mali_shailesh will you confirm that you can (eventually) read the notes with adobe/foxit/other reader? we are re-restyling these documents, and we think the new, proposed format is much more attractive, but of course we need it to be user-friendly/compatible with mobile devices?

David - Yes. We need acrobat reader now. Not sure anyone tried this but I am having issues opening forum links from documents. It works for some but does not work for all.

Hi mali_shailesh thanks, I don't think it needs to be acrobat reader, i think it can be almost any client PDF reader; e.g., my favorite is http://www.foxitsoftware.com/Secure_PDF_Reader/
(I think the problem arises, based on our experience so far is simply when trying to read the PDF in the browser. So far, client PDF readers seems to be okay)

In regard to the forum links, okay good to know, thank you I am copying Suzanne cc: Suzanne Evans thanks,

Hi Kamma - We already have two P1 mocks in the Study Planner @ http://www.bionicturtle.com/my-account/study-planner/P50
... although we developed them last year, they are 100% relevant (those mocks triangulate on the stable FRM exam base)
... we will deploy +2 more P1 later in the year, but not before the May exam next week (no way no way, we have several specific PQ documents we are updating, looks like we have 8 in the queue in the next few days, but no mocks). Thanks,

Hi David
Basically same question as above ie Need Mock question awnser docs, But when i click on this link you pasted it takes me to several excel sheets with sums and formulas in this. Am i going to the correct place ? thanks

@All - Sorry for the delay on the remaining T9 notes, they should be published up within the next 24 hours (sorry, it's just that we have been re-publishing many edited practice documents in the last few days/weeks that are high priority ... and the T9 notes aren't really profound since they extract from free, already-short and entirely qualitative PDFs, so i admit i have not given them high priority). Thanks for your patience,

I have a question about the schedule as show in the first post (i.e. 2013 july, august, september). Is this a schedule that shows when what is going to be published or a schedule for me to see when I should learn certain notes?

I'm a bit confused because I do see notes r1 (published 1 of july which coincides with the schedule) but I don't see the notes r2 or r3 (only the old ones published beginning this year). (ofcourse i do realize r3 might come later today, that just leaves r2 unexplained)

Pflik,

This is a schedule as far as what is going to be published.

We will be publishing them as close to the schedule as possible. Notes: R2 and PQ: R42 will be published within the next few hours. The others due today will be published later this evening.

Thanks!

Hello, I am currently studying for the FRM part I nov 2013. But I have the impression that I am not using correctly the study planner. For example, when will the video for Tarantino be released ? I cant see it on the agenda. Besides that, and more importantly, the practice questions "P1. Foundations IFC on ERM" is full of questions about VaR or options that have not been addressed in the Foundations notes nor videos. Could you help me understand how it works ? thanks

chouchouc,

David will be recording videos today. His plans (time pending) are to record a total of 6.

Reading 1 (Risk Taking), Reading 2 (Elton & Gruber), Reading 28 (Hull 19), Reading 28 (Hull 25), Reading 3 (Amenc) and Reading 6 (Miller 2).

We do not have immediate plans to create a video for Tarantino as we are only recording key videos.

The practice questions for Foundations are questions that are created from David in reference to the topic and specific AIMs that are labeled in the document. Questions 300-306 reference Reading 1. In the document you will also notice an appendix of practice questions. These are practice questions that we created in reference to readings/chapters that used to be a part of the FRM curriculum. However, GARP has removed those from the curriculum but they still are on the same "topic." Those appendix questions you can utilize if necessary, time permitting.

I hope that helps!

Just to add to Suzanne's reply
  • Tarantino is a great example of a video we gladly skip: short reading is a set of (qualitative lists) and low testability. A video of this low-consequence chapter would presumably consist of me reading the sets of lists, which is not much value-add, so we skip it.
  • It is definitely true the Appendix to P1.IFC contains questions that reference additional topics. Please do not let that dissuade you from scanning (or even doing them), in this case, those prior practice questions are highly relevant. What happens is, GARP discontinued the Jorion Chapter 1 reading and replaced it with the new IFC, so we wrote new questions. However, in terms of the exam, those "old" Jorion questions are extremely relevant in general: they reference several general P1 themes. (in fact, reading Jorion Chapter 1 would still be highly recommended). I hope that helps explain why we retain the Appendix: it gives us a way to retain practice questions that may still be helpful, thanks,

Hello David and Suzanne,
With notes still being published, what is the best way to study ? Should I keep going through the study planner and loop back every so often to see if a set of notes was added to a section I already finished with ?

Edit:
I should add, I can appreciate the challenge you and Suzanne face in getting all this quality content ready in such short time frames.

afterworkguinness,

You are correct that notes are still being published. Prior to our current publishing strategy, we published all of the notes combined in one single document. Going forward we are now publishing them individually by reading. I will not remove the bulk notes until we've started to publish that topics individual reading study notes, which means you will still have access to the bulk study notes to use for study purposes. As we publish them individually they are being issued in a new format as well as we're adding a practice questions and answer section (if questions are available.).

I hope that helps!
