When CV/Resume is confirmed by GARP

Hi All,

First of all, happy new year to everyone and my best wishes for the new and remaining FRM Candidates.

I have passed FRM II but I have to insert my CV/Resume in GARP website in order to confirm my minimum two years of work experience.

My question is the following: Do you know the average time answer ?

In GARP website, they say that you can use FRM Designation after GARP validates your CV and that you do not have to wait until April 2012 (FRM Certification sent by mail on this date once your CV has been validated)

Thank You,

zript, I do not know the "average wait time" for GARP's confirmation/decision on the work experience. We do have a line to GARP but I hesitate to make this query (of course, at least several days would be reasonable) unless or until the delay becomes unreasonable. Please let me know if that becomes the case and we can help you follow-up? Thanks, David

zript, i was just phone speaking with a GARP contact on another matter and so i relayed your question.
She said: it's a function of CVs/resumes in the queue but that they reply "in as quick as a week but it could be as long as one month." Hope that helps, David

Hi David,

I still have no answer from GARP (it is for 1 month now that I have submitted my CV/Resume). Is there anything you can do for me?

Thanks again for your Help.

Hi zript, I can ping my contact Monday (I just tasked myself to do so), I'd imagine you are just caught in their long tail ... I'm sure it's coming, but I'll let you know what she says ... I assume you tried their facebook? Thanks,

Hi David,

how do they verify my work experience. Do they send a letter to or do they call the bank I am working for ?
Many thanks

Hi Chris,

I don't know. I have assumed (but this is merely my assumption based on no information) that GARP relies on the self-reporting, as deception in reporting would be a serious violation and a fragile basis for submission in the internet age (i.e., misrepresentation could be uncovered at any future date). Of course, they would still have the resources to spot check (random sample). Actually, i guess i wouldn't be surprised if the spot checked a random sample.

But, I do not really know, we can ask if you like?: we just ping our contact and ask her to look at this thread! It's not high tech but I don't like to bother GARP unless it's important to a customer or the exam?

Thanks,

hi david,

is it okay to have one year experience before pass l2 and then a year later get the other one year?

Hi Ibrahim,

According to GARP's website: You have 5 years from the date you passed the FRM Exam to submit your CV/Resume to GARP by verifying your professional experience. If you fail to submit your CV/Resume within the 5 year timeframe then you will have to retake the FRM Exam to become a Certified FRM holder.

The source can be found here.

Thanks,
Suzanne

Thanks,

GARP called the Director of Risk Analytics at the company I work for (90% certain) to verify my colleagues work-experience requirement for the ERP. Don't know if they do that with all, or just a sample. Doing it with all ERPs would take 10 min since so few people take it, but the FRM... Calling over 10,000 people seems unlikely. Email would be possible but then they would be dependent on that person responding, and often people gets a lot of emails so I would expect few responses that way.

I'm guessing random sampling for the FRM

Hi David,

Not sure if i a m asking my query under the correct thread. I would like to know if my work experience will be considered by GARP. I cleared level 1 in nov-17 & level 2 in may-18. I have submitted my work experience on 06-July-18 but haven't got any confirmation as yet. Bit anxious to know if my experience will be considered or not. I work as a Business Analyst for Global bank & currently working on IFRS9 programme. For your reference, i submitted the following to GARP. Can you confirm if this will be accepted:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Working as a Business Analyst on IFRS9 programme. IFRS9 Standard introduces a new approach to the classification and valuation of financial assets. The standard, which replaces IAS 39 with effect from 1st January 2018, changes the approach to impairment, asset classification, and hedge accounting. Under IFRS9, Impairment will no longer be based on an ‘incurred loss’ approach, but will incorporate a degree of forward looking loss expectation. Transfer of Expected Loss to the Lifetime category (rather than the 12 month category), can be significantly sooner than the current definition which will require significant change to existing provision calculation methods and credit risk models, for example in the use of Point-In-Time and Lifetime PD’s. As part of the project team implementing IFRS9 my job was to work closely with all stakeholders (Risk, Technology teams, RWA team, Financial control & Static data team) to get the requirement implemented.

Hello @dhirajchawla

It can take up to 6 weeks for GARP to approve work experience. They have many submissions to review, and it also depends on how many were submitted at the same time as you. Unfortunately, we cannot say whether or not GARP will accept your work experience. If you have questions about the information that you submitted, it is best to contact GARP directly at [email protected].

Thank you,

Nicole

@dhirajchawla It's obviously beyond my ability to confirm for you, but sincerely: you should not be anxious. Clearly you have relevant work experience, it's hard to imagine how your experience would not qualify. Sorry you are kept waiting, I'm sure your good news will arrive soon enough! :)
