As everyone inches closer to writing exams, I thought this type of thread might interest a few.
Curious if anyone wants to chime in about what they think ranges of minimum passing scores are like for the standardized finance exams like?
FRM
CFA
CIPM
My guesses:
FRM
- heard through the rumor mill that it is often calculated as 75% of the top 1/5% (forget which one) so my guess is that the MPS's theoretical max is 75% but more often than not, it will fall in the range of 62-69 for both P1/P2.
- I thought 69 is a reasonable upper end because it means the top 1%/5% candidate scored 92%, suggesting only 8 wrong in the P1 or 6 wrong in P2
CFA
- the old method was to use 70% of the average of top 1%, but the new method is "who the hell really knows, but most likely will be in the range of the old method"
L1, 68-70%
I imagine there will be a few that will get perfect on this that the MPS is pretty tight near 70%
L2, 64-68%
Just look at the passing score evidence produced by some forum folks.
L3, 62-66%

CIPM
L1, 70% (???)
Not much data to go by but I can see that out of the <300 candidates taking this exam, there will be a few very close to 100%
L2, 70% (???)
Some help would be nice. No clue at all. The only thing to go by is the 70% of top 1% benchmark CFA used to use since they are administered by the same board of directors.
