Hi all,

i am new here. i just registered for FRM Dec 2012 exam L1 and L2. I am thinking of purchasing BT materials, but not sure if all the materials are up to date. Will be any change or update in materials/exam curriculum between May and Dec exam within same year? Can I assume the content would be completely the same? Can I buy the materials now or still have to wait for further update? Thanks a lot for your information

Hi Chi,

Thank you for your interest in bionicturtle.com!

Yes, we update ALL of our contents every year even if there is no a curriculum change. All of the videos and study notes are fresh for 2012. As of this date, all of the study notes have been posted and the majority of the videos have been posted. David is finishing up on T4, T8, and T9. David records fresh videos every year. All of our practice questions are relevant and David writes new practice questions daily. We will have a break in the practice questions coming up soon as we prepare for mock exams.

The curriculum is the same for both May and November (there is not a December exam) exams. The content will remain the same and you would utilize the same content for study preparations as what is being prepared now.

Yes, you can purchase the content now. You can view our FRM product offerings here: https://www.bionicturtle.com/products/financial-risk-management/

Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks,
Suzanne

Just to add to Suzanne's comments: by Monday (in 2 days), we will have finished the formal set of videos and notes that associate with the 2012 AIMs. Those will continue to apply thru Dec 2012, as the AIMs will not change.

However, to be really candid about how this works: the exam calendar forces us into an essentially rushed schedule up to the May exam. I do pretty much hate it for two reasons:
  1. Although the FRM AIMs have improved (give credit to GARP for acting on feedback), the AIMs remain sub-optimally organized and are still far from 100% "predictors" of actual exam questions. For both of these reasons, an AIM-by-AIM review, in my opinion, is not the best help we can give
  2. We make more errors/omissions than we prefer (although in my defense, this is partly because i still write daily new questions, which tacitly is an expression of my willingness to sacrifice some quality in favor or more fresh, relevant questions)
So .... Jan to May is "defensive" for us: I rush with content to meet the schedule imposed, we produce the promised AIM-by-AIM coverage.

But May to Nov is where we go on "offense:" collect all suggestions and feedback, make revisions; but also we have planned proactive improvements: highly focused by-topic videos with more worked examples; and streamlined question sets (plus, in addition to the 2 mock exams we will publish by May 5th, we will have more mock exams); tie both to the structured email.

I hope that is interesting! Thanks,

Hi Suzanne and David,

Thanks a lot for all your dedicated comments
I too am thinking of subscribing to BT and have a fairly specific question. Do you go into detail as to the proper use of the TI BAII Plus? As I have not used an advanced financial calculator in 20 years I am having a great deal of frustration in its use and that is causing frustration with my studies for the FRM.

Hi dclay,
I've never before used a financial calculator until I bought the TI BAII Plus calculator. All you have to do is read the leaflet that comes with it for short instructions, or search inside the manual for farther/longer instructions.

Hi dclay:

No, we do NOT go into great overall/introductory detail (but I do empathize with calculator frustration: that would definitely make everything harder). The last help i gave on this was, yikes, five years ago, see http://www.bionicturtle.com/how-to/...lus_ti_ba_ii_essential_functions_for_the_frm/

I would like to add some video help (I had already been thinking about this...), however, ONLY if I can secure a TI emulator (for videos)

@Suzanne: can you help with application for TI emulator, looks like we need TI permission? see http://education.ti.com/educationpo...pport_borrowtitechnology_financeeducator.html

@dclay: if you like, we can let you know if/when we do add the TI help? Currently we do not. Thanks,
