bionicturtle videos on youtube

Hi,

I recently purchased your training program with the intention of giving the FRM exam in May 2013. I noticed that there are a lot of videos posted by bionic turtle on youtube. However, these are not in any organized fashion. Even if you went through the play lists there seem to be missing videos in the list that pick up from somewhere in between. I was hoping that when I purchased your training I would get access to all these videos in a more organized way but I could not locate any such thing.

My question is how can I get access to all the collections of videos that you have posted on youtube. How do I know if I go through the play lists I am not missing a particular video? Why are these videos not part of the core package that we purchase on your site?

Let me a give an example. There is a great video posted on youtube on discrete vs continuous compounding here

However, the video "2012.T3.b.-Products" content on the Markets and Products topic that is part of the purchased content barely skims this topic and does not go into the level of detail that this video does. Why isn't this video also part of the content so we can have access to it. I had to find it by searching on youtube. Is there a way to access the collection of videos in a more organized way if you are a paid subscriber?

Thanks.

Hi anand99,

Thanks for your purchase! And thank you, too, for liking our YouTube channel.

Yes, it's true: the youtube videos are not highly structured (they are organized into playlists, this link should display all playlists, which for example includes a 20-video "course" on Intro to Quant Finance). But our YouTube channel is primarily just my "practice channel" where often practice recording a concept/idea as a means to rehearse before a paid FRM video. Sometimes I go deep on something, and I plan to go off topic. But youtube is free, so it's a practice channel that also markets us, too. (it is our primary social channel, in truth).

The paid FRM videos follow the sequence of GARP's AIMs. That is a trade-off we have always struggled with: in some cases, the AIMs are a great roadmap; but in other cases, I think the AIMs are inferior as a roadmap.

As I am currently drafting the 2013 FRM calendar, one change I am trying to achieve is to shift to more of a concept-based approach, but that is nevertheless sufficiently faithful to the AIMs. The advantage is that I can devote the right attention to the fundamentals; e.g., compound frequencies; some of which receive shorter attention in an AIM-by-AIM sequence largely because there are so many AIMs (!). I would rather pursue this approach than try to "infect" or paid product with organized access to free (often times, old) youtube videos. I hope that makes sense? ... but I do think about your point, I agree with your example (compound frequency), I actually think it's not the only such example ... thanks very much for your input, we look forward to deploying the 2013 content!

Dear David,
I just became a client for the FRM-1 2013 and wonder, if I shall start with the 2012 roadmap, or to wait until you have prepared the 2013 guideline. As the GARP Books are not ready for sale, I'm a bit stuck as I don't know how I shall proceed.
Thanks for your kind suggestions
Thomas

Hi Suzanne,
I am considering FRM part in May 2013. Are your study materials expected to replace those sold by GARP or do I need to purchase both?

Appreciate your reply.

vs65,

Our products do not include the books provided by GARP.

I'd recommend you read the following:
I hope that helps.

Thanks,

Hi David and Suzanne,
Recently I have viewed your vid on youtube and found them highly useful. While I am accessing youtube through VPN (not working sometime) due to China's internet blocking... Are there any alternative way to view your instruction video for my Part 2 study? I do not mind to pay for it.

Hello @terebikko

Our Advanced study packages include the instructional videos. Initially, you will need the internet to access the materials, but all of our materials can be downloaded for offline viewing so you would not have to worry about the videos not working because of the internet. You can view all of our packages HERE. Please email me [email protected] if you have any other questions.

Thank you,

Nicole
