Work Experience Part-time

Hi

I am a business major and right now I'm studying math and work part-time as a Risk Manager. I wanna take the exam next year and was wondering if GARP accepts 4 years of part-time experience (which I have with next year), or do they accept only full-time work? And I'm not sure if I have 2 years full-time within the next 5 years.

I didn't get an answer from them so i hope anyone can answer my question.

Thx

Hi Rainer, I asked Suzanne to help. That's a great question--i.e., must it be full-time or full-time equivalent--to which I don't really know the answer. I *think* GARP wants full time experience, in which case the answer your question would be "no" they do not accept four years of PT (on a literal interpret of "A minimum of two years professional full-time work experience") but I am not sure and, you gotta think going forward, your profile is increasingly relevant... we are asking our contacts, thanks, David

"Work done as a student ,summer jobs, internships, research assistantships and teaching assistantships do not count towards the required two years of Professional Work Experience."
I had asked them a similar question a few months ago. It seems to me that the list pretty much excludes part-time work.
My question was directed more towards work done as a student. I could be wrong. Regardless, I don't think any organization accepts part-time work.

Rainer,
I'm going to pass on your email, but this is the response I was given:
Hi Suzanne,
The answer depends on what type of risk management in a part-time role he has been doing, if its academic work then no as that is not considered real-world professional work experience. But if he has been working at an investment bank part-time while going to school and getting paid, it might.
Have this person either reach out to me directly or provide me with his email and I can reply to him.

@lanky: it sounds like they may differentiate between paid part-time and unpaid part-time (e.g., internship). I think it is good they will at least consider paid part-time: after all, that's surely real-world experience.
