Hello Friends,
i am looking at this site since an year now but some members are maligning this site by sending some personal msgs which are listed below...

1). I am Mrs X ,i have a 2.8 Million Dollars which I have decided
to donate to you and want you to use this money to fund the up keep of
widows, widowers, orphans, destitute, the down- trodden, physically challenged children, barren-women and persons who prove to be genuinely handicapped financially. please write Sincerely,
Mrs X
Email: [email protected]

2) My name is X. I am a dying woman who had decided to donate what I have to you for the up keeping of the Orphan and the less-privilage. I am 63 years old and was diagnosed for cancer about 2years ago and my doctor just told me that i have limited days to leave and i have no relatives.I have ($2,800,000.00)

3) I'm X by name, i contacted you for an urgent issue, after going through your
profile today on my search, reply back to so that i will details you back.

All three msgs were sent to me by same person.

I think David, Suzanne u shud give some serious thoughts about this activity. The same person posted all these msgs in my inbox. I deleted it but I respect this forum for the kind of knowlege it puts not for this kind of msgs. I agree we shud have a facility to msg anybody privately but this kind of msg just become irritation for people.

Would u please look into this matter?

Only once did I receive spam email through this site, but to be honest, there isn't much you can do about it really. This kind of scenario occurs almost everywhere. I'm not sure if this was put in place when I registered on the site, but maybe David and Suzanne can look into a human verification log in process when registering for the first time (type these words/numbers as shown etc) to prevent spam.

But it's really at the bottom of mine and others list of concerns. I'll happily deal with a few spam messages if it means David can focus on the new material and getting it out on time.

Hi Abhishek,

Thank you for the heads-up, this is actually the first I've heard of such "internal" forum spamming. And I appreciate -MaNi- 's point ...

However, we will ask our developers (cc Suzanne Evans ) to investigate how and whether we can better prevent such spam. I actually take it seriously (we manually delete any spam we see on a daily basis) because we want the forum to be a quality resource. Our developers are currently, as part of a entire site redesign which deploys next month (February) re-skinning the forum (with respect to the forum, the agenda is primarily to make it mobile responsive), so we can't necessarily act immediately (probably need to finish the current development tickets) but I will keep you updated. I don't know what the answer will be; if the spam is infrequent, they may say that we can't eliminate 100% of it.

Thanks

ABFRM,

Can you send me a message either in the forum or via email ([email protected]) so I can look into the users account? If they are a spam user, we do have the ability to block their account.

-MaNi-, we do have a human verification for sign-up currently.

Thanks,
Suzanne
