Hi I teach 16-17 year old kids basic accounting. The reason for taking FRM is to change industry. Just wondering is there any way I can tweak my current experience so that it can conform to the FRM work experience? I remember seeing accounting lecturer qualify but I was wondering how accounting lecturer use risk management in his day to day work

Hi,
Risk management covers all the topics of risk and the tools and methods used for analyzing and managing risk. So Accounting does contain several methods and tools for risk management especially the credit risk. e.g. company's accounting statements can provide a clue about the health of credit position for the company and its financial position.Hence in a way the accounting is helpful in credit risk management. So accounting is related to risk management in this sense. I hope you understood how accounting can qualify as a work ex requirement in FRM.
thanking u,

Hi qin,
I've read in GARP's required work experience where teaching is concerned that it should be full-time teaching. If you can verify that you have been working full time teaching accounting for two years, then I don't think there should be a problem.
But I don't think "tweaking" into that would be a good idea.
Let it be truthful and real...you don't want to compromise your credibility in the future.

Good luck.

There are areas of accounting relevant to Risk Management. One example is Accounting for Derivatives. Also Financial Statement Analysis is very relevant to the aspects to Risk Analytics, Credit Risk Analysis etc. Analysis of Contingent claims and below the line items are very relevant to today's risk inherent scenario.

Perhaps the following would provide more food for thought.

I agree with Hend Abuenein that "tweaking" is not a good idea. Try to explore the work that you have done related to various areas of RM and then focus on them.
