Inquiry about 2009 FRM attempt

Hello David,

Could you please guide me as there would be substantial difference in the next FRM 2009 exam as compared to 2008, because I am really interested in attempting the exam in 2009 and planning to start my preparations from November 2008. So, is it wise to purchase the package of 2008 or I'll wait for the 2009 material.

Please guide in this regard.

Hi Noaman,

Thanks for your interest! The difference btwn 2008 vs. 2009 is currently *unknown* and probably will be unknown until, I'd guess (based on history) Jan - Feb of 2009. Historically, the test churn (change) has been significant (20-30%) but somewhat predictable: quant is fairly stable (Gujarati is new and so will repeat), market risk fairly stable; credit, ops, and investment less so.

Owing to significant (already) 2009 interest, I will start something early for 2009 (soon after Jan 1st)...so, between now and early 2009, truly I do not think it will make much difference...some have purchased already for 2009 but it is not necessary. For BT, you might as well wait until Nov - Dec - Jan because frankly we will be dearly focused on 2008 until the exam date. I really like to give "early birds" good resources (best customers, highest pass rates); joining Nov - Dec - Jan - Feb is all early bird...and I've got some more early bird resources coming up on the site in December...

Really thanks for clarifying the situation, but it would be of great help if you put up the amended new material as soon as possible after Novemebr, 2008 exam, may be till end of December or start of January.
