@Argiope,

Most of the materials that have a "Coming Soon" label are either brand new to 2016 or they are materials from last year that we did not get the chance to publish. There are materials that are currently published in the study planner from last year that will still be updated since they contain new learning objectives for the 2016 exam.Whenever I publish a new or updated document, I make sure to post it in the announcements section of our forum here for Part 1 and here for Part 2. It would certainly benefit you to study the materials that are currently in the study planner while you are waiting for any updated materials to be published.

Thank you,

Nicole

Dear Nicole,

I wish to make a suggestion with regards to a question which BT team faces on a regular basis i.e. when a particular reading/ notes will be published.

If BT team can mark LOW PRIORITY/HIGH PRIORITY for the readings for which material is NOT published, it will make life more easy for everybody I guess( I may be wrong).

For eg. as a candidate, I will also have an idea what David thinks about testability/ importance of any reading (I will put more/less time to prepare that).
Secondly, a candidate knows in advance that a particular reading is in low priority list of BT, then they can try and finish them using other sources like core readings/ reference books and not wait indefinitely for the BT material. ( Not every person need same time for preparation and if lot of undone readings pile up near the exam date, it adds to the nervousness of exam taker). At the same time, we can put more focus on high priority readings.

For all the above, I am only talking about readings for which study material is not fully published and ofcourse priority label is as per David's experience with GARP.

I believe with additional insight about unpublished notes, people will not ask same question again and again.

Thanks

Hi @Nicole Manley, Do you have any planning for publishing current issues of Part 2 for May 2016 exam? And also the formula sheet for Part 2.
Thank you :)

Hello @Deepak Chitnis

We are currently reviewing the prepared study notes for the current issues topic so they will be published soon. I am not sure that we will have sufficient time to prepare and publish an updated formula sheet for Part 2.

Hello @Roopam

At this time, we have many sets of study notes that have been prepared and are in the review process so they will be published very soon. If there are any sets of notes that are not published before the exam, we can revisit the idea of marking those readings as high or low priority. We are also working on the mock exams, which will be published soon as well. We will not have sufficient time to prepare any more question sets or instructional videos before the May exam.

Thank you,

Nicole

Hello @Duvie15,

As stated in the original post, we do not have specific dates for the release of the materials. We update as many materials as possible before the May exam, and the remaining materials are published for the November exam. Our focus has always been on the QUALITY of our materials, which we do not compromise in order to publish every single reading before the May exam.

Please also visit these links on our FAQ page to learn more about our publishing process, and why you may not see some materials published.
Thank you,

Nicole

Hi folks,

So it appears that a few of the items with label Notes in Foundation as well as in Quantitative and in Valuation are marked as coming soon.

I'm probably wrong to say I couldn't care less about why are these coming soon, but rather, I wish to know when they will become available.

Any idea/thoughts are appreciated.

Cheers,
Leo

I've just begun my studying for the FRM part 2 which I will be sitting for in Nov and was wondering if the study planner reflects the updated curriculum for this exam.

The reason I ask is that I had a few colleagues that took part 2 in May 2016 and they noted that the study planner was outdated and was not very useful for them.

I'm trying to manage my time between reading the books and/or going through the BT materials and would rather not just rely on BT materials if the study planner is outdated.

I understand that there's a document that notes the changes to apply for 2016 but I honestly don't have the time to go through and figure out what parts of the study notes to ignore and what to pay attention to. I feel like having to do so defeats the purpose of me paying for a service like BT.

Hello @theproman23

I'm sure others in the forum can give you their advice and let you know how they feel Bionic Turtle has helped them to pass the exam, but I wanted to personally respond to your question so we can help you with your study plan. The study planner is organized in the exact order of the current 2016 GARP curriculum, and we follow the exact learning objectives. We continuously update our materials throughout the exam period (as explained in my the original post of this thread). So this means that all materials are not updated at one time. You will find that some of the materials have not been updated yet, but we are continuing to prepare and publish materials. There are also some materials that have not been updated, and this is because the learning objectives did not change so we carry over those materials since they are still relevant to the current curriculum regardless of when they were published.

So to answer your question specifically, no, the study planner is not outdated. The materials that are currently published are all relevant to the current curriculum. You may also find some documents that contain learning objectives that were deleted from the curriculum. We ONLY leave those in the materials if David feels that those concepts are still important for you to learn and understand, and we normally note in red that they were carried over in our materials even if they were deleted from the curriculum. Please also see our FAQ section, which explains in more detail why you may find that some materials are not published:
I hope that you find this information helpful!

Hello @[email protected]

Thank you for using Bionic Turtle! I moved your post to this thread, which discusses our publishing process.

These links on our FAQ page will also help to explain why some materials may not be published:
