I was asked to leave the examination hall in between and my answer sheets were snatched. I had switched off my phone and kept in the backpack near the invigilator. At 10 in the morning, my daily alarm went on and I had no clue that alarms do ring when the phone is kept switched off too. Due to this silly reason, they cancelled my exam. Does anyone have any clue how to escalate this issue further? Is this acceptable? By no means, I was using unfair methods and I had seriously no clue that alarms work this way. Please guide :(

Hi
Sorry to hear about this. But as per GARP policy its clearly mention that "If alarm or any noise comes from phone then exam will be canceled". I don't mean to disrespect your feeling but I think if your phone is "switched off" then there is no such phone in his world which will ring due to alarm untill you have kept in flight mode NOT switched off.

Sorry to hear about your day. Don't take it hard on you. What happens it past it done. Move on.

There is no way a phone that's turned off would switch on for the alarm. Zilch. GARP policy clearly stated that it was not sufficient for the phone to be put on airplane mode...it had to be completely switched off!

Yes, it's disheartening, but this has to be a lesson learned. GARP played by the rules, and as unfair as it may seem, they have been unbiased.

Unlucky. I didn’t get my exam thrown out, but believe it or not my calculator actually straight up stopped working after like question 7. Unfortunately no back up either. In retrospect low battery warning was wishful thinking.

Actually, an alarm ring wil go on even if the phone is turned off. It happened to me before (not on the exam), I've seen it happen to other people as well. I always cancel all the alarms.

Hi all,

I have a problema with my admission ticket which I would like to share. My first surname is "NUÑEZ" but "Ñ" is not admissible in application form for the exam. Therefore, in my admission ticket my first surname is "NUNEZ", however in my passport is "NUÑEZ". I know GARP is very strict with exam policies and I would not like not doing the exam because of this.
I have written GARP yesterday, but I have not received any answer yet, does anyone know how long take them to answer emails? (I am aware I am being very anxious but I feel stressed wit this issue? I have written to [email protected]. Has anyone have a similar problem?

Thank you so much,

Hello @pnunep

GARP has stated that they are receiving a very large volume of emails due to the exams being postponed in many countries, so it is taking longer for them to respond to emails. If you have not received a response by Monday or Tuesday of next week, please email me directly at [email protected] and I can see if I can help in any way.

Hello @Nicole Seaman,

Perfect, thank you for your quick answer, you are great! I will wait until next week. Thanks again, I knew BT team or colleagues from the forum would help me. Now, I feel more calm :).

Hello @Nicole Seaman

I have received an answer from GARP by email. Briefly, they have told me there is no problem, Admission Ticket system does not accept special characters such as the Ñ. In that cases, system replaces the special character with the closest English equivalent They said GARP's proctors are trained to allow candidates with special characters enter the exam. Therefore, everything is fine! :).

Thank you for your help,

Pablo.
