Congrats to the candidates that attempted and cleared L1 and/or L2 exams. As a 2011 FRM candidate, it is motivating to see people succeed in passing their level exam(s).
So the 2011 study guide was released with the AIMS yet to come. I was wondering what David's (or anyone else's) thoughts were about the change from Gujarati to Stock & Watson for the introduction to econometrics/quant. Although it looks like the content covered by both authors is very similar (if not identical). I'd like to know whether major differences exist in the different author's delivery of the material in terms of assessibility, density, and coverage of material provided by Stock & Watson compared to Gujarati.
Also, I am curious if BT has decided to provide flash cards (terms, formulas, important concepts) in 2011 beyond that of the powerpoints. I've read in previous posts that David thought this was a good idea and would look into it further.
I am writing L1 in November and am giving myself a early start. My strategy for studying is to: read the source material -> watch BT videos -> briefly review BT notes -> experiment with BT spreadsheets -> BT questions. I am just waiting for the source material to be released by GARP.
Once I have some absorption of the material I plan on doing questions ad nauseam. I'm pretty excited to be using BT.
Take care,
Adam
TLDR - Wondering about difference between authors and whether stand alone flash cards beyond ppts will be available in 2011.
