Writing FRM Levels I and II together

Because of time constraints during May 2011, I am thinking about writing both levels in November 2011. I would like to know if doing both levels in one day is doable. Has any candidate done this? Thank you.

I'd be interested in other views, as well. Just my $0.02: Last Nov (2009), a very large number of candidates sat both exams, but it was a quasi-unique event (initially, GARP advertised it as the first and last chance to take both LI & L2 in a single day; later, to some frustration, they revised to the current, which allows for L1 + L2 in single day).

It is definitely "doable" but I'm less sure that you'd be advised to start that plan now, with < 55 days to go. So the question, I think, really is: is it enough time to prepare for both? I personally would not advise this plan, if starting fresh today: it is too much material. (there is an additional risk element: if you pass L2 but not L1, you get no credit [!!] for the L1 and you are back where you started). IMO, sitting both simultaneously logically implies that you allocate *more* time to meet the additional "event risk." So, I think your question begs: how much time do you have? (but i'd be interested in other views b/c i have a conservative bias ....). Thanks

Hi David, thanks for the reply. I meant I'm interested in writing in 2011. I am really planning quite far in advance. Have they indicated their position on taking two levels in a day, for 2011? Thanks again.

sorry, i breezed past the 2011. Oh, now that's my kind of planning! Unless GARP changes their plan, which would be unusual, you can assume the L1+L2 option will apply going forward (at each Nov and May date). I don't really know how many attempt, I'd be interested in the %, but i don't myself know it .... thanks!

Hi,

GARP has made it clear that if you sit for FRM Full and fail on Level I, you get no credit for Level II. But the way it is termed ("FRM Full") seems to imply `All or Nothing`.

I'd like to ask this: if you pass Level I but fail on Level II, would your Level I be recognized? I think there is some ambiguity here.

If yes, one can safely attemp FRM Full stressing on Level I (if you don't mind the torture of sitting 8 hours in a day) .

Regards,
Valentin.
