Upgraded Documents

Hello all! For those of you whom haven't noticed, the practice question documents are being upgraded (we are replacing the old documents) according to a new style as well as updated carefully by David to correct any previous errors and links to take you directly to the practice questions within the forum (for discussion reasons). We are adding NEW practice question documents as well as the sets are completed.

These new documents are in a new format and utilize a non-standard font. I have tested these documents on the computer, iPad, and iPhone. You should not have any problems viewing these documents with the following FREE pdf readers:
We are also started to publish the study notes individually by reading vs. the entire chapter. As these study notes are completed, they will be in the upgraded format as well.

Don't forget to refer to your Study Planner for content organization: http://www.bionicturtle.com/my-account/study-planner

Should you have any problems, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thanks,
Suzanne

Hi Suzanne/David,

A quick question, (which may entirely relate to my own deficiencies) but I notice there is a 'new' GTD for P2.T5 (Market Risk)...or at least, it's new to me. Is this an updated version of an old document that I've missed or is it an entirely new PDF? If it's a new PDF then despite me now finding the questions on the forums (via the links in the PDF) I can't see how I could have known about these questions back in, say, March/April when I was doing T5 PQs...?

As I've said, this may entirely relate to my own shortcomings so I apologise in advance if I've got the wrong end of the stick...:)

Thanks - Mark

P.S. It's probably worth me also saying that I don't use the study planner (I use the How-To section instead) so it could be due to this...?

P.P.S. Of course, many thanks for writing the new questions, as well! ;)

Hi Mark,

All of the T5 except for Tuckman are all just upgraded as explained above. However, Tuckman does have some new questions that were not in a document prior.

Yes, PLEASE use the study planner. I wouldn't expect anyone to to remain organized using the how-to section. We are in the process of a site re-design which will take care of that problem!

I hope that helps!

Thanks,
Suzanne

Thank you for the reply Suzanne and sorry if I'm being a bit thick but looking at the new Tuckman PDF it's just an amalgamation of the prior Tuckman Qs (excluding the no longer assigned content on fixed income and MBS) along with the upgrading. There are no new questions as far as I can see?

Also, sorry to bang the drum but would you happen to know when the T5 GTD was on the study planner first time around (i.e. before the very recent update)? As a BT customer I've only ever used the How-To section (which I prefer as you can sort between content and topics much more easily) and it normally reconciles to the Study Planner.

If I'm being a pain ignore me as I think I'm up to date now with what's going on. Thanks again :)

Just to clarify
  • The P2.T5 Tuckman @ http://www.bionicturtle.com/how-to/question/p2.market.-tuckman-chapter-7-8-9-10/ (is somewhat typical of an upgrade): Chapter 7 is re-freshed (re-used) questions where the upgrade is "merely" any error correction (or occasional key insight) garnered from the source questions in the forum. FWIW, T5.45 is typical of an such improvement: a customer suggested a clarification w.r.t. " a.k.a, one percentage point." Most customers will not notice the difference, but it's a helpful addition.
But Tuckman P2.T5 questions in this document for Chapter 8, Chapter 9 and Chapter 10 (art of term structure ...) questions are indeed new in the sense they were written as recently as Jan/Feb 2013 (against 2013 AIMs: Tuckman 3rd Chaps 8-10 are entirely new concepts in FRM P2) and their update since would tend to only be error corrections
  • The T5 Global Topic Drill @ http://www.bionicturtle.com/how-to/question/p2.market.-global-topic-drill/ contains no "new" questions: they were written in 2012, but as they triangulated not against 2012 AIMs but rather the "continuous" T5 exam body [i.e., the testable core that tends to persist across year-to-year changes], they remain 100% relevant: our refresh included a check against new AIMs to see if any of the questions failed against the update, but as expected by design, these globals tend to have a shelf life of 2 to 3 years). So their only difference is error correction, which +1 year later tends to be minor (i think maybe 2 small corrections, as i recall). Sorry if that's TMI. Thanks Mark for your support (and your understanding w.r.t. T9 notes delay)!

Thank you David - and thanks for the T9 notes...they look good and having already been through the T9 PDFs they provide a nice AIM map on which I've now made some (2 A4 side per PDF reading) terse exam notes.

Thanks again!

Hi Mark - thanks but I am not happy with them (at all), they were rushed, they mostly just extract/highlight (it kills me to be pushed into subpar quality by a reckless schedule) ... they need to be done properly in the second semester. This first semester was uniquely difficult (in maybe the whole history of the FRM) due to, er, extent/timing of changes wrought by GARP. Suzanne and I are really excited to see our system catch-up in the second semester, we have a new site coming (or developer is just incredible) and a plan that hopefully can better adapt to GARP's frenetic rate of syllabus change. Thanks,

Previously it has been mentioned you are moving to a new format next year. . . however for this year, I see each chapters being updated - when will they be compiled into single docs, i.e. Part II topic 1,2,3,4,5

Reading the last document for P2 topic 3, is stops near the end saying in verison 1.2 the notes will be completed??

Some of the latest videos for P2 topci 4/5 are from 2012. . . . are there more recent ones, im assuming that newer ones were made for May 2013 exam, or for this exam people used the 2012 videos as well

swalker,

In 2013, we are transitioning to a video for each key reading, such that during the first half of the year (i.e., before the May exam), we will only be publishing certain key videos. For example, Part 2, Topic 6 generally repeats from 2012 such that we will not re-record most of the essential Topic 6 material but only the certain new key readings. (In fact, for Topic 6, the majority of the 2012 videos are still applicable in 2013, as most of the AIMs are readings are unchanged).

This will allow us to build, by the November exam, a full library of videos (linked to readings) that is a more persistent resource. More importantly, this allows us to create higher-quality videos: rather that simply "read over" the AIMs, we can create shorter, more impactful videos. For example, the new T6 Tuckman videos are < 40 minutes (per reading) but generally, we think, will give you more effective coverage of the concepts.

At this time, we do not have plans to bulk contents by topic.

Please see our calendar for our projected publishing dates: https://forum.bionicturtle.com/threads/2013-frm-calendar-updated-8-15-2013.6642/

Please keep in mind, these dates are estimates.

Thanks!
