Understanding what to read

HI David,
Just signed onto the site and apologies if this is a repeat question

I am little confused as to which are the sections that need to be looked at for the 2010 exam. For example in Foundations study notes I can see 2010 Foundations but then I can also 2009. Some of the listings have a red flag next to them and some dont.

Could you please clarify which portions are to be reviewed for the exam or is it all?

From some earlier posts I understand that your advice is to to read the source material in conjuction with your notes - is this understanding correct

appreciated

Hi fahim,

Thank you for joining.
There are two ways to view the resources. One is to use the study planner, which is organized by topic (T1 to T4 for Level 1, T5 to T9 for Level 2).

The other is by resource type in the How-to, as you are above. So if you are looking at:
http://www.bionicturtle.com/how-to/notes/category/risk-frm/foundations-of-risk-management
... We do keep prior material posted, so the the 2009 notes are just last year's version of notes: you can ignore and focus only on the most recent 2010 notes.

The red flags indicated premium/paid product (i.e., you can access, but unpaid members cannot) and, for exam preparation, is really all you want to focus on. (Note, in the how-to, you can filter by product level, and this will only show red flags)

Re: "I understand that your advice is to to read the source material in conjuction with your notes - is this understanding correct"
This depends on your timing. Yes, this is my advise if you are starting early with a good study plan/etc. However, as the exam date approaches and time decays, then the source readings are less advisable and, IMO, you should shift to summaries and, more importantly, practice question. So, it depends on how much time you have. As time narrows, there is not necessarily the luxury of reading the source materials.

Hope this helps, thanks, David
