How many certified FRM's globally? In the USA?

Hello,

Does anyone know how many certified FRM's there are globally, and in the US? I have been googling for some time now and can't seem to lock down anything concrete. The closest figure that popped up was 50,000 globally, and it looked like that was from 2018.

So, if anyone knows, and can provide a link too if possible, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Hi @Sixcarbs

Yesterday, I had an advertising email from GARP, announcing the early registration time, and the number 60,000 in the email caught my eyes. here is the exact sentence:

"Isn't it time you joined the ranks of nearly 60,000 certified risk management professionals around the world, employed at nearly every major bank, asset manager, hedge fund, consulting firm, and regulatory agency?"

But I do believe that like CFA, they should allocate some parts on their website, elaborating on details.

They responded to me after my phone call to them.

It's a secret!

"With regard to your inquiry as to how many certified FRMs there are globally and nationally, it has been confirmed to me that this is non-published information."

Hi @Sixcarbs

I think there is a 'tedious' way to calculate the number:cool:;) but we can only get the total number of FRMs and ERPs combined .
Steps:
1. Log into GARP website and use the search functionality to search for 'certified FRMs+ERPs'; we can't distinguish based on program.
2. Select your country of choice
point of consideration : each page packs 5 names of certified FRMs or ERPs except the last one.
3. Say total pages are 500(=n),
Total FRMs for that country enlisted by GARP= (n-1)+ no. of the names listed in the last page
ex:
For USA, n=799 'n 799th page has 1 name; so total count of FRMs+ERPs = 798x5 +1=3991
Likewise India=2838
China=4646
UK=1130
Canada=1576

I don't think we have any other way other than going page by page if one needs the exact count by program.:confused:

I like the way you are thinking, but, I don't think everyone is listed in the directory. I think a lot of people opt out. There have to be more than 3991 FRM/ERP's in the US, don't you think?

I had like to think so, but do you think there is any way to opt out ? GARP states that only after one receives the charter, one can claim to be an FRM and merely passing Level 2 isn't enough.
Now there might be folks who clear FRM Level2 but don't score the charter which needs additional submissions. Some of my friends who have cleared CFA level3 never applied for the charter coz of various reasons. But I doubt that number will be high. The other hypothesis that comes to my mind is that the GARP website is buggy from past instances :p

You actually have to opt in.

Oops! Now you know I haven't cleared Level 2 yet:D
However, that's informative and nice to learn that. But I wonder why people will opt out ? Due to privacy :eek:?
Even CFA has the same option to search CFAs out across the globe.

I think they force you to Opt-in, and if you do nothing, you are not in there.
