Hi Guys and Admins.
Recently FRM Part 1 Exam results were announced.
I already posted that I could not clear. I am disheartened since 2 days due to this and thinking whether should I again appear. Neither able to decide, not able to get out this failure. Is there anyone who failed in their 1st attempt, but returned back in the next attempt strongly to pass?
Need some motivation from such people.
Thanks!

Hey,
You should not care if other people fail or not, since it doesn't really matters. You fail, so what, take a week or so to chill and get back to studying, if you fail again then you study even harder. You will still be better than people who have not even attempted to take this exam. However, I guarantee that if you give up now, in 2 or 3 years you will be kicking yourself because you didn't try again. Everyone fails, if not on this exam then in smt else in life, the most important question is: are you willing to give up to continue. Besides, this is a great test of your character. So, relax and chill, take some time off and then back to cracking with David. :)

Hi @Sag111194 Re: "Is there anyone who failed in their 1st attempt, but returned back in the next attempt strongly to pass?"
It happens all the time, not just here, but everywhere! Can i offer two thoughts:

I am lifelong fail-er, I have "failed" too many times to count (eg, lynda.com rejected me as a teacher, I was wrecked for days). How can you even call this "failure?" If you re-take, then whatever you learned is a head start on the next cycle. As Serdar implies, when you look back over your career, you will laugh at how seriously you mistook the little speed bumps along the way.

Second, it's just an exam. It doesn't deserve to be disheartened over. Not even. It's just one exam. It can't possibly reflect on your overall abilities, much less your identity (and never your destiny!). I agree with Serdar, suggest you "relax and chill" and go think about something else. Then, when you have perspective, decide whether to retake. I would decide only after you've got some distance to see clearly how it's not even a life/death decision, but really a minor decision in the scheme of things. If you decide you want to pass the FRM, you can do that, it's just a matter of when ... if you decide you want the goal. This is a small tiny speed bump, easily overcome (or dismissed). I hope that's helpful!

Sorry to hear you didn’t pass. It’s a process to accept failure, analyze your weak points and then plan well to prepare for the exam again.

1. Your quartiles results would have given you an indication of which areas you are strong and which areas need more work relative to the test takers. Do you agree with GARP’s assessment?
2. Are there topics you don’t find comfortable at all?
3. Given that you have gone through the cycle of preparation and have had a real exam taking experience, you can try to see where you can improve so that you can manage your time better next time.

I was stuck on Part 2 and I finally cleared it with good quartiles. But even in my last attempt I didn’t have enough time during preparation to do what I thought I needed to do. So, you can pass without mastering all topics.

All the best to you. Don’t give up.

I start saying shame on me :D.

I did the Part II exam 4 times before passing it at the 5th.

what i suggest you is, using the quartile, focus on topics that you missed and then re-try.

other thing i can suggest is, do as many test as you can.

i see that you are not a subscriber. i wasn't neither. i used Schweser package for Part I and Part II then a switched to BT.

BT is way better than Schweser and quiz are way more similar to the exam one than the Schweser.

Never give up, study as much as you need and can and retry

Well, that seems satisfying, not giving up and getting up after every fall. Hats off!

Sag don't give up. You picked this course for a reason; you might like the material, the line of work, etc. So just think about that and all the new things you'll get to learn in the process. I'm sure if you take this in a positive light you'll perform extremely well next time around. Just keep the fire that lead you to sign up for this program burning. And like everyone said, failing is a part and parcel of life. I'd probably fill an entire dairy if I sat to list all the things I've failed at. Keep going, we are here to motivate you :)

Some good feedback in this thread, I'd also like to add, I like Winston Churchill's definition of success:

"Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm."

From my own observations it seems a lot of people do not know how to study effectively and efficiently. In addition, to a relaxation period, before jumping straight into the material again, I'd recommend some self-reflection and potential revision of study strategy.

Would like to bring in my 2 cents.

I've cleared the 1st part with one try, but the 2nd part (IMO, way harder one) took me 3 attempts.

For the first one, I haven't been preparing at all, and finished with the lowest quartiles.
For the second attempt I used to prepare with another provider (namely, Wiley), and failed too. Although the quartiles were rather on the edge this time.

And finally, for the last attempt I've subscribed for BT, and also obtained the Schweser prep materials elsewhere, and studied with both alongside. Also for particular topics I've been scrutinizing the original sources (e.g. Hull, Gregory, Jorion etc.), Wikipedia/Investopedia were helpful too... As a result, I've arrived with the quite appropriate quartiles by Nov '19 – not the perfect ones, but good enough to qualify.

Just don't give up, and you'll pass the exams eventually.
