About FRM exam

Hello David,

Could you please guide me as there would be substantial difference in the next FRM 2009 exam as compared to 2008, because I am really interested in attempting the exam in 2009 and planning to start my preparations from November 2008. So, is it wise to purchase the exam package of 2008 or I’ll wait for the 2009 material.

Secondly, what are the pre-requisites of preparing for FRM exam with your study material, I mean do one have to have advanced math and stats skills?

Please guide in this regard.

Thanks.

Hi Noaman,

Per the other thread, I hope i've satisfied on the first; i.e., expect at least 20% churn in content, waiting is fine...

Regarding pre-requisites of FRM preparation: generally for the FRM, introductory quant finance is *very* helpful and makes the assignment readings easier (in particular, statistics and basic calculus; the FRM does not test calculus per se but i think 2008 FRM candidates would agree that familiarity with calculus is *increasingly* helpful)

For our program (Bionic Turtle), for the 2009 FRM exam, I will again deploy an Early Bird program and (like every year) we will be looking to make improvements. The Early Bird will cater specifically to those without "advanced math and stat" and will (warmly) welcome those without any foundation, so there will be no prerequisites. We will build everything from the ground up. The (optional) use of EditGrid learning spreadsheets will be part of that, as "learning by doing" is best...

Between now and then (start of Early Bird) I will be deploying a resource page with recommendations for early prep...please stay tuned...

Thanks, David
