As a risk manager, I have to hedge my risk by both printing my exam ticket while it is available and continuing to study until I receive confirmation of cancellation from GARP.
You can always keep it as a souvenir ;) ...received the confirmation from Marriott as well (2nd test center in Montreal). Event is cancelled and very likely to be postponed to january like the rest. Still, I would appreciate the official statement from GARP as well...

I called GARP and they were unaware of any "new" developments in MTL, but said they would get back to me. I e-mailed the hotel and am waiting to hear back...But, I think you are right. Hotel front desk clerk said that in September they hosted the CPA exams by blocking off entire floors and having proctors walking the hallways to check on students in various hotel rooms there...

I wish GARP had thought of that...

That is really savy, ok, let's us know if you hear back from GARP !

You should not be expecting GARP to be totally on top of this at all...in Hong Kong when the November 2019 exam was to be held..GARP advised students that on the Wednesday before the exam that it was going ahead as planned..then two days later overturned this decision and cancelled the exam in Hong Kong.

that was really frustrating

I was waiting for the exam ticket, did not get it. Found on my GARP profile that the registration was moved to January with no announcement whatsoever. I emailed them to see if it's a mistake.. disappointed either way.

Did anyone able to print admission tickets? Mtl, tor?
I was able to print it (Montreal). Still expecting a statement over the next few days though. Once again, the two test centers here in montreal confirm to me that hosting the test would be illegal.

Just tried, am able to see it. Probably because i already downloaded it early yesterday morning when they haven't had a chance to make any changes.
Given the current situation i highly doubt the October exams will proceed.

I guess we are okay for now. But i dont know how they are going to do it at exhibition place. It’s usually very crowded, and similar to a gym, all depends on the number of candidates. Hopefully the exam takes place.

Ontario daily new cases will likely double by mid October, even if the test takes place at Exhibition place on 24th I would be hesitant to go write it. I do want to finish the exam soon though, but also don't want to risk my health.
Honestly GARP should have offered candidates the option to write CBT instead

Was just speaking with DoubleTree Hilton in Montreal and I can confirm that they have cancelled the October 24 exam because they are in a red zone. I followed up after with GARP (general inquiries) and was told that the GARP exam administration were aware of the situation in Montreal and would make an official announcement on their course of action within a couple days.

CBT test centres are just as likely to be closed as a result of a lockdown as in person venues for paper based exams.

I am in MTL and I printed my October admission ticket yesterday. I am still able to access it online and my exam date is still listed as October 24. However, as with Walli26 above, I contacted my venue and they said:

"Unfortunately, as the government declared Montreal a red (COVID) zone, no events or meeting can be hold until October 28. Please contact your exam provider to get more information for when the exam will be taking place."

GARP replied to me with this:

"Thank you for your inquiry. GARP is committed to ensuring the safety of all candidates on exam day. In order to safely administer the 2020 exams, GARP has implemented new exam day policies to address safety needs during the exam. Please visit https://www.garp.org/#!/post/exam-safety for more information about our COVID-19 Exam Day policies. As a reminder, we will NOT administer an exam if it is not safe to do so, or if local government authorities prohibit the same.

We encourage you to visit our Important Notices page, found here: https://www.garp.org/#!/important-notices, where we are announcing all updates to 2020 exams. This includes any additional site specific requirements as well as any possible exam date postponements.

Should your scheduled exam receive an update, we will send a communication to all registered candidates detailing the update and any action required on your part, if applicable. As such, we ask that you please check your email and the Alerts page regularly to monitor the status of your exam.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to provide you with a safe and secure testing experience."

Toronto is probably even worse than Montreal in terms of daily new cases trend. I will try to call the Exhibition place to see that they are planning to do. On their website, all indoor events in October are postponed or cancelled due to COVID.
