Thanks. I agree with all, which is why I think we need the position!
However i think I need a bit more concrete independent sources that basically described what you said. I basically have to "prove" it.
I Was hoping people more familiar with tbe FRM curriculum could help me with the...
First and foremost you guys are in great hands here at Bionic Turtle. I'm a Certified FRM and I used BT material exclusively.
I'm attempting to convince the head of my firm that we need a dedicated investment risk manager (we have a group that deals with more operational/business related...
Well It was renewed automatically for when I had to sign up. I may or may not have renewed of my own doing. It has nothing to do with being certified, although it is cheaper if you are certified
I was verified today as well, submitted Jan 2.
However I feel GARP tried to trick me a bit. My membership automatically renewed at $200 at few hours prior to them accepting my experience, which would reduce the cost to $150. I emailed them to see if they'd reimburse me...
I sent mine in the same day of results (Jan 2nd) and haven't heard anything back. Mine should be pretty easily verified as well (CFA Charterholder, Fund research, FOF PM type work). I'm not going to sweat it until it gets beyond the one month and then I'll bring it up here.
I'm still waiting, but I'm a CFA charterholder doing something similar to fund of funds management duties...so I'm not worried.
I put my start date in the date fields and within the body I explained some role and title changes with the dates included.
Just type in what your 2 years of experience is. I wouldn't stress about it. Now obviously if you have less than 2 years at your current job you'll have to add the previous job. You don't need to show additional though, you don't get extra credit or anything of the sort
Quartiles are just a guide and not your raw score. Remember you could have been anywhere from 26-50th in your 2nd quartiles and 76th to 100th for your 4th. Holding topic weights constant, an increase in any topic should improve your chances at passing equally. As in going from 40th to 30th is...
The mark you posted is well within range. Using a standard midpoint scoring method that test taker is about right at 50%. Pass rates have been hovering right around 50% historically for L1 as well. My guess is about half of the point that scored 2,2,3,3 passed and the others failed...
I actually agree the FRM exams were tougher in a vacuum. Typically I'd say if you took the CFA exams first then the FRM you'd side with the CFA tests being harder. If you took the FRM first, then the FRM would be harder. There is quite a bit of overlap, and increasing quantitative skills...
For all intents and purposes I am in the fund of fund business, and I am seeing a growing popularity of the FRM/CAIA. Although to be honest it is pretty rare. The knowledge of these other certifications/charters are growing though which is extremely important in the sense that the people in...
And also, if you did the standard analysis of assuming I scored inbetween each quartile, you would see I would finish in the 47.5% of the test takers. Not that good, but still with some breathing room with the low 60's, high 50's pass rates.
And to expand on this, this is why I don't think anyone should ever defer. The goal isn't to get 100%, it is to pass. And given the pass rates and the probable minimum passing score, it is well within any test takers best interest to take the test. If you 'know' 30% of the test cold, and you...
Yeah I'm sure I'm at the bottom of the list of passers. With the pass rate where it is some people are going to have to pass it with 3's, by definition. I wasn't overly optimistic since I barely studied (like I said all I did was BT videos). I got married November 3rd, plus a honeymoon...
Just 5 days of studying, and all of the major BT videos later I passed L2 by the skin of my teeth 3,2,3,3,1
2/3 of the way to the Triple Crown, CAIA come on down.
