Hi all,

Does anyone knows under what situation do we test for significance of correlation ?
what about the significance of the slope in a simple linear regression ?

Thanks

hi,
we test for significance of correlation to test whether the linear relationship between the dependent and independent variable is strong enough to use the model for the projection.
significance of the slope in a simple linear regression is used to check whether the slope coefficients are different than 0 or not. If the slope coefficients are different than 0 than the independent variable associated with the slope coefficient is significant in explaining the dependent variable whereas if slope coefficients are not different than 0 than the independent variable associated with the slope coefficient is not significant in explaining the dependent variable.
