Strategy for my last two weeks preparation for Part 1.

Hi David,

As the exam is coming within 12 days. I would like to know if the following strategies are good or not.
1. I am working on all the practice questions after 2012 posted on your website.
I am wondering if the 2012 practice questions are good enough to cover most of the exam contents. Should I go back to work on old practice questions posted in 2011 and 2010?

2. I will finish 2012, 2011 and 2010 practice exam posted on GARP in the last week.
Are 2011 and 2010 exams as valuable as 2012 exam? Should I work on any practice exam prior to 2010?

3. As for the formula sheet, I will focus on the formulae you put in your notes. Is this a good idea?

4. When will the quiz be posted on your website?

Thanks a lot.

Just to add..its useful to do more questions from the past (2011 and 2010..if time permits) and if same AIMs...as i remember during part 1 exam (in Nov 2011) ..one question was to select CTD bond from a bunch of bonds and the quick way to do it (if i remember correctly) was shown by david in 2010 question set...so i could easily do it then...

Hi FRMStrawberry,

1. Yes, in general I favor, at this point (if not earlier), an exclusive focus on practice questions. So, I do totally support working practice questions. But, Ankur is totally correct: you can assume 2011 and 2010 are relevant and helpful (the GARP exam is not quite concretely discrete such that it sheds its past each year, it is more of a rolling average of concepts).
In general terms, as of 2012, I am finding 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 (of course) relevant. I would put 2008 "on the bubble" (i.e., expendable but not a waste if luxurious in time). I would not bother with questions before 2008.

2. as above, i do think 2009 (and much but not all of 2008) are helpful. Depends on time. I also think that working 2010 - 2012 ought to be sufficient preparation.

3. Yes, i think complementing with formulas is a good idea

4. Today, Suzanne has drafted, I am currently reviewing for publish today.

Thanks,

Dear FRMStrawberry,

Typically, the FRM practice exams are slightly 'too easy' from what I've heard compared to the actual exams. Thus, I would focus more on David's questions, which are a notch harder than the final exam. This way, the final exam will be easier compared to the questions you are used to and you should have a better preparation.
