Hi Mandeep,

Additional notes are not required; i.e., if you have the source reading and Schweser study notes, that is quite enough source text material (IMO). I would not load up too much on texts.

Beyond that, individuals vary in their wants and needs. Some have adequate background to pass without any prep help like BT. Many others are overwhelmed by the amount of sheer text; that is where we try to help. Our strength is the non-text help (video, learning XLS and esp high-quality practice questions). We try to save customers' time.

However, soon you should start working practice questions, regardless of your study aids: it is not enough to read & memorize, you should start regularly doing practice questions.

Hope that helps, David

Hi David,

I was GLAD I came across your website when i was searching for a little help on Google for FRM.
(The only regret, Why dint I come across this earlier)

Well, I am Nidhi from Mumbai (India). I intend to appear for FRM Level 1 this November 2010.

I am a fresh Graduate in Banking and Insurance with only 1year of work experience with JP Morgan.

As i came across many candidates appearing this November, i only realized i was the youngest of all appearing. (Only out of the all i know)

My Queries:
1. Do you think that less practical and market knowledge would be a drawback for me to clear this exam?
2. Would relying on Schweser and FRM Handbook along with a few practice questions be enough to score well?
3. Since its just 2 months to go for the exam, could you please suggest how to go about with the Final preparation? (I am done with tutorials and one reading for all and i am not working anywhere at present and only preparing for the exam)

Your help would really be appreciated as I am really very tensed.

Thanks & Regards,
Nidz

Hi Nidz,

Welcome.

1. In my opinion, it can be a slight disadvantage/challenge due to the unique method GARP employs to generate questions: they source from actual practitioners and filter through the AIMs (most exams have the reverse methodology: they source from the assignments and then afterwards apply a reality filter maybe). For this reason, experienced practitioners have an edge (slight?) because some questions appeal to real world background and, even occasionally, seem to defy pure textbook.

2. Depend on the individual. Some can do this.

3. Start working practice questions, is my first advice

David
