End of Chapter Exercise for FRM Part 2 textbooks

Hi David and Nichole,

There are exercise questions for each chapter in FRM part 1 textbooks. Why I do not see any exercises for the chapters in the FRM part 2 textbooks? Do GARP sell these exercises separately for part 2, please?

In 2020, GARP changed the Part 1 curriculum. They now provide their own textbooks for the Part 1 readings, which include end of chapter questions. This change only affected Part 1. GARP did not write textbooks for Part 2, so those readings are still sourced by outside authors. Some of those authors provide end of chapter questions in their individual textbooks, but GARP does not provide those. Thank you, Nicole, for your response. Because I have done all the end of chapter exercises for Part1, and I think those exercises tie closely with the part1 learning objectives.

And now, the part2 books do not provide any end of chapter exercises, so I just want to make sure that there are NO official practice exercise officially from GARP that I need to do for preparing part 2? I just want to make sure this, in case I miss these exercise...

HI Yao (@lincoln40113 ) Regarding Part 1, I agree that GARP's new EOC questions apply to the LOs, but on the other hand, they are not exam-level practice questions. For the most part, they are too brief and easy. Fine for a first pass. But I would have preferred more rigorous questions that are representative of the exam ... FWIW

In regard to your question about Part 2, I agree with Nicole. You asked further, "I just want to make sure that there are NO official practice exercise officially from GARP that I need to do for preparing part 2?". Yes, that is correct. The only other official (ie, from GARP) resource for P2 PQ are the Practice Exams. I assume you are aware of those, those are important? (We can't share 2020, we can only share 2019 and prior...)

As Nicole said, the P2 readings often do contain their own EOC PQs as written by the original author/publisher, but for purposes of the exam, their relevance varies by reading, but in most cases, I would say they are at least somewhat relevant (how could they be a waste of time, if the reading is assigned!). So I think they all start with threshold relevance. But beyond that, it varies simply because the effort applied to them varies (and of course many have zero EOC questions; e.g., the academic papers). I hope that's helpful,
