Hi david can u tell me how to use natural log function using TI BA ii plus calculator.

u=ln(18/20)

and also how to calculate the foloowing expression.

6^5*6^-6/5 it is poisson distribution calculation.

thanks in advance and do reply soon.

1.

18
divide
20
= (display 0.9)
LN (display -0.1054 = -10.54% is the answer)

2. it's not poisson as show, i think you mean P(X= 5) with lambda = 6 so that
P = exp(-6)*6^5 / 5!

6
y^x key
5
multiply (display 7,776)
6
+/- (display -6)
2nd LN (display 0.0025)
divide (display 19.2748)
5
2nd multiply (i.e., factorial; display 120)
= (display 0.1606)

reality check: =poisson(5,6,false) = 16.1%

Hi darshang,

10
N
(display confirms N = 10.0000)
900
+/-
PV
(display confirms PV = -900.0000)
50
PMT
(display confirms PMT = 50.0000)
1000
FV
(display confirms FV = 1,000.0000)
CPT
I/Y
(display answer I/Y = 6.3834)

my colleague used that notation in some of the forum answers, which i am slowly fixing, but it's confusing. I would write this 10*exp(-10%*.25)
she meant: 10*e^(-0.10*0.25)

so
10
multiply
(
.1
+/-
multiply
.25
) ;display should be -0.025
2nd LN (i.e., e^x) ;display should be 0.9753
= (answer should be 9.753)
