You are starting way too early for Level II! You will be burned out - honestly if I were you I would do the following:
- CAIA L1 - Sep 2013 (plenty of time to study)
- CFA L2 - Jun 2014
1. Schweser notes are sufficient - you could opt to do some of the blue box or EOC problems from the CFAI...
Hi all - apologies if this topic has been already covered - are there significant changes in the curriculum between Nov 2012 and Nov 2013 materials?
I was planning on using Schweser FRM Part II materials coupled with BT.
Thanks.
Hi Hend, hope all is well! I sat for the L3 exam - the AM experience was tough (a lot to write). PM was OK. I can offer you tips on how to study for L2 and L3 (hoping that I passed - fingers crossed!).
Also as a follow-up, this is my study plan:
1. Read notes
2. Video lecture / additional notes
3. Examples / EOC questions
4. Occasional review quiz every 2 weeks
The key to understanding the material is doing as many practice questions as possible.
Hi Hend,
Sorry for being inactive - I have been super busy at work.
The Schweser questions are representative of the actual test. However, I would use the CFAI books (blue box example questions and end of reading questions) as a supplement. Also, for Ethics, you want to make sure you read...
Hi all,
I will be taking FRM part 1 and part 2 in Nov. I saw online that the difference b/w Tier 2 and Tier 3 are the spreadsheets. I wanted to ask past Tier 3 users if the spreadsheets are worthwhile. I was looking for a sample online, but was unable to find one.
Also, in your experience...
BTW - against my better judgement, I signed up for part I and part II. I figured cramming in March CAIA Level 2, May FRM Level 2, and June CFA Level 3 was too much.
If you guys could give me a solid and detailed study plan, I would appreciate the help. As I said before, I purchased the...
All,
Thank youf or your responses. What should my study plan be? I placed an order for Schweser notes. Can I rely soley on the readings and the BT for everything else? Or do I need to purchase the official GARP readings as well?
Best,
James
EOC = End of chapter questions
Also, some other comments for you to digest: I am pursuing the CFA, CAIA, and FRM to bulk up my resume. I know that I do not "need" these certifications in private equity, but depending on your goals and ambition, they can all help. I started pursuing the CFA...
Here are my two cents.
I took CFA Level 1 in December 2011, CAIA Level 1 in March 2012, and CFA Level 2 in June 2012. Passed all three on the first attempt. My experience is Finance undergrad and 3 years private equity on the investment side.
CFA Level 1:
The topics are easy, the material is...
Thank you for replying. Very helpful.
As a follow-up - troubleshooter: did your colleagues get good scores overall? Also, how much do scores actually matter? Has anyone heard of employers (maybe hedge funds?) asking for scores?
Thank you for your recommendation on study providers. What Tier...
Hello,
I just signed up on the BT forum. I am in interested in pursuing the FRM designation; however I have a few questions for the veterans of this site. I have been searching forums online (Analyst Forum, Wall Street Oasis, and other Google searches), but I have been unable to find up to...
