IFMR Capital's objective is to develop debt capital market access to institutions that impact low income households. These include rural & urban micro finance institutions and small & medium enterprises. Position: Senior Quantitative Risk Analyst
IFMR Capital is looking for an analyst in a risk role to work in its office in Chennai, India. The role is highly quantitative and analytical in nature and will involve extensive use of mathematical modelling and/or programming. The job involves research and analysis on key risk indicators, modelling exposures and risk, testing and validating risk models and using the output to analyse credit quality and risk of our partner institutions including MFIs and other partner institutions such as MSMEs and microhousing companies. This role also involves working with other teams including business and operations & compliance.
Job Requirements:
We are looking for candidates with a strong desire to learn, an ability to creatively define their own projects, a good working knowledge of finance, statistics and risk management acquired either by formal training, work exposure or both. The requirement is for candidates with a strong technical background and a sound understanding of risk applications to business.
Qualifications Preferred:
1. Post graduate / Phd in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or Physics (with an interest in finance)
2. FRM or equivalent
Skills Required:
1. Experience in statistical modeling
2. Knowledge of risk measures such as Value-at-Risk (VaR), ARCH/GARCH
3. Knowledge of a programming language/SAS/R
4. Strong analytical and problem solving skills
5. Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills- both written and verbal
6. Strong work ethic, positive attitude, self motivated individual having an ability to work individually and as part of a team
7. Ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting demands
8. Intellectual curiosity, creativity and self motivation
Experience
1. 3-5 years in risk management or equivalent at a financial institution
